Feature: Dance Umbrella 2012

Dance Umbrella 2012, principally funded by the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund, is scheduled to run from February 17 to March 4, 2012.

For fifteen days Johannesburg will be engulfed by contemporary dance which can be seen at the Market Theatre complex, Wits Theatre, The Dance Factory, the Goodman Gallery at Goethe on Main and Johannesburg Stock Exchange.

Campus Invasion Tour

One Weekend, 11 International Acts and over 40 of South Africa's most renowned artists ...Killcool, Hilltop Live and Monster Energy bring Jozifest to the Joburg public on 3 and 4 February at Town Hall, The Woods, Carfax and Mash. Two street stages. The action takes place on Carr Street. Expect to be blown away with performances by Van Coke Kartel, Bittereinder, Oskido, Mi Casa, Die Heuwels Fantasties, PH Fat, Yesterday's Pupil and many more.

Kosie House of Theatre and The Market Theatre present Somewhere on the Border, written by Anthony Akerman and directed by André Odendaal. After almost two decades of silence, the border war has forced its way back into public discourse and this production of Somewhere on the Border is part of that dialogue. At the Market Theatre from 10 January to 12 February 2012.

An exciting range of new commissioned works will spice up next year’s Dance Umbrella, taking place from 17 February to 4 March 2012, at various venues, including the Market Theatre, The Dance Factory, Wits Theatre, Goodman Space at Arts on Main and the old Johannesburg Stock Exchange.

Picture is an exhibition by 2011 Photojournalism and Documentary Photography Programme students. It will be held at the Market Photo Workshop from 7 December 2011 to 15 February 2012.
